Mara Winter is a specialist in historical flute performance and is currently based in the Pacific Northwest. She can be heard performing chamber music on period instruments spanning from the 11th century to the present. In the past she has been featured at the Berkeley and Vancouver Early Music Festivals. Additionally, Mara has had the pleasure of performing with the historically-informed Berwick Academy Orchestra during the Oregon Bach Festival under the direction of Matthew Halls. Mara is the recent recipient of the Early Music America Barbara Thornton Memorial Scholarship. Mara Winter holds an Artist Diploma in Early Music from Cornish College of the Arts. She has studied with Janet See in Seattle, Washington, Molly Barth and Kim Pineda at the University of Oregon and Michel Debost and Kathleen Chastain at Oberlin Conservatory.
